چکیده

Abstract A viscoelastic material which is stretched and then held at constant elongation, normally results in decreasing stresses till the equilibrium has been reached. With a crack propagation not expected as energy of system decreasing. However, an initial damage could lead to increase mechanical load on undamaged chains during relaxation, leading degradation propagation. While experimental investigations have presented literature, modelling such effect thoroughly investigated. In this work, framework for evolution relaxation presented. model coupled with phase field For simplicity, linear implemented part. mobility employed changing relaxation. The can be interpreted polymer get damaged. Different conditions geometries are simulated, shows that proposed able Thus, help numerical physical explanation failure Graphical abstract

Crack propagation in viscoelastic solids.

We study crack propagation in a viscoelastic solid. Using simple arguments, we derive equations for the velocity dependence of the crack-tip radius, a (v) , and for the energy per unit area to propagate the crack, G (v) . For a viscoelastic modulus E (omega) which increases as omega(1-s) (0< s< 1) in the transition region between the rubbery region and the glassy region, we find that a (v) appr...

Propagation of a Mode-II crack in a viscoelastic medium with different bulk and shear relaxation

A solution for a crack propagating under shear loading in an isotropic viscoelastic medium with different relaxation under volume and shear deformations is presented. The medium is infinite and the semi-infinite crack propagates along the x1-axis at constant speed V , which may take any value up to the speed of dilatational waves. The requisite Riemann-Hilbert problem for the steady-state case ...

Pressure Wave Propagation in Liquid-Filled Tubes of Viscoelastic Material

The propagation of small-amplitude waves in a thick-walled long viscoelastic tube of variable cross-section, filled with a viscous incompressible fluid, is considered with account for wave reflection at the tube end in application to arterial pulse wave propagation. A solution is obtained in the form of expansions in a small parameter. The effect of the coefficient of wave reflection at the tub...

Alternating crack propagation during directional drying.

The propagation of fractures during the drying of a colloidal silica suspension confined in a vertical microtube is investigated. During the drying process, the particle concentration increases until gel formation. In the gelled region, the tensile stresses increase and lead to the formation of two vertical perpendicular cracks propagating in the drying direction, dividing the tube into four eq...
